Zack and Ian hark back to the good ole’ days of the Futile Podcast and do about 3 or 4 movie reviews in one.  We discuss the themes and the ideas at play in these films.   It is all very technical and not for the layperson … yeah right.

Posted just a few minutes before the end of my birthday.  Horrah I got a rejection from the SxSW film fest today for a present.  So I’ll probably post the said rejected short online soon.   I did a little too much work outside in the rain today, so I feel kind of bad.  I’ll just say it’s the end of the beginning.

Who knows where life will take us but for now this may be the final Futile Podcast.  Though I’m sure it is quite the whimper to the deafness of the void, I say that this will not be the end.

Any Which Way But Loose (right click here if you approve of the truck drivin’ arm breakin’ lifestyle)

Taking a break from the “high brow” discussion about technology in film I thought I’d post one of the last Futile Podcasts.  There is a few more after this but then things may change a bit so be weary or excited.

Another 48 Hours review (right click OR click)

Mark and Ian discuss Walter Hill’s follow up and I have to wonder if the Murphy/Nolte combo could do with another film?  Also, one of the bickers in this movie is the guy that played Wishmaster in the first two films.

48 Hours review (right click OR click)

Mark and Ian are back with a review of this classic Murphy, Nolte, Hill film.  But the best thing of all is that you have sully driving a porsche set to James Horner’s B-roll Caribbean drum music from Commando

Anime randomness

Anime Randomness (right click OR click)

Zack, Blaine, and Ian do a perfunctory discussion about Japanese cartoons and videogames.  We briefly discuss:  Claymore, Gurren Lagann, Mushi-Shi, Quincy, Riddick, Call of Duty 4,  Jonathan Swift, etc.  Zack interrupts to steer it more into sports and we talk about “the love of the game”.   We recorded this self serving haywire episode at a coffee shop, so bear that in mind.

Edit:  In keeping with the them of Anime I recently wrote a review of Ghost in the Shell director:  Mamoru Oshii’s newest anime film “The Sky Crawlers” you can check it out over at Zack’s Forgotten Reviews site: http://theforgottenreviews.wordpress.com/2009/06/08/review-the-sky-crawlers/
