What with all this talk about Fred Thompson as a possible candidate for president in 2008 I remembered that he was in The Hunt For Red October<\/a>. This was Tom Clancy’s first book, the only one I read and it was pretty good; though I was only in 5th<\/span> grade so I might have missed some of the finer points. Anywho<\/span> Clancy’s main character Jack Ryan is the stalwart rugged individualist<\/a> (the ideal of a Neo<\/span> Con or so Neo<\/span> Cons would imagine) who does the right thing, or something like that and so I figured I’d coin another term. And now I own it<\/a>. So that means between there being “South Park Republicans<\/a>” and “Log Cabin Republicans<\/a>” and let’s face it, Libertarians the Right is actually pretty delineated (or maybe these are just terms to describe the same Hydra<\/a>) Anyway I dub Fred a Jack Ryan Republican and if he gets serious about the race we’ll see what the hell that is. <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
